Starrest — Support
Focus sessions, app limits and a small companion that sleeps while you work.
Getting started
- Open Settings (the slider icon on the home screen) and tap Choose Apps.
- Select the apps or categories that distract you.
- Go back home and tap Start, then pick a session length.
Selected apps are shielded for the duration of the session. Ending the session lifts the shield.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the app ask for Screen Time access?
That permission is what lets Starrest apply a system shield to the apps you selected. Apple requires explicit authorization before any app can do this. Starrest requests individual authorization only — it can never see or control another person's device.
Can Starrest limit my whole phone?
No. Apple does not expose whole-device screen time to third-party apps. Starrest can only limit the apps and categories you select. For wider coverage, also select categories in the app picker.
Is background audio counted?
No. Only screen-on usage is counted, so music and podcast apps running in the background are not limited by this app.
Why didn't I get a reminder?
Reminders are delivered as local notifications. Check iOS Settings → Notifications → Starrest and make sure notifications are allowed. The Settings page in the app also shows the current permission state.
What are the stars for?
Every 30 focused minutes lights one star. Stars unlock companions and are never lost — skipping a day does not reset your progress.
How is the app priced?
Starrest is a one-time purchase. There is no subscription and no advertising.
Does the app work offline?
Yes, completely. The app makes no network requests.
